A qualified journalist, a global citizen and a budding filmmaker, Netra has had a penchant for writing and filmmaking since she was five years old. She traversed across countries like Singapore, the US and the UK. Growing up she learnt about World Cinema and kept working on her craft. During her undergraduate course in the US, she took multiple film classes where she got hands-on experience in movie making and lots more. 

 

After attaining an Undergraduate Degree in Media and Screen Studies from Northeastern University in Boston and a Postgraduate degree in Television Journalism from the City University of London, she returned to India to collaborate with her colleague Rutuja Karkare to build and form Rune Productions. Netra has completed directing and co-writing six short films. Her first short film, "Ek Anchaha Mehman" screened at The Bandra Film Festival. Her second short film "Neelima - It's Love, Not Lust" won an accolade at the Jaipur Film Festival 2022'. Apart from creating fictional content, Netra has also written and directed ad films and videos for corporates and commercial clients. She has created a series of product videos for a corporate in the Hydraulic space and written and directed commercials for clients from the FMCG and Home & Interior sectors, respectively.

Being the Chief Executive Storyteller at Rune Films, the Digital Content banner under Rune Productions, Netra conceptualized a property called “Mobile Movies”. These series of short stories have all been filmed using an iPhone and with limited resources. It has a unified theme of "Give & Take". She wanted to try her hand at capturing the realism of everyday conversations we have, in our daily life and how such conversations end up being the biggest teachers of life!
